Penguin Computing's complete portfolio of server solutions support Intel® Omni-Path Architecture, highlighted by the Relion and Tundra ES family, which are Intel x86 server based in EIA (19”) and OCP (21”) form factor.

The Relion Server family is based on Intel Xeon processors, including latest Broadwell Intel® Xeon® E5-2600 v4 processor. Relion servers are available with up to 22 cores per socket, memory speeds up to 2400MHz to help shorten HPC application turnaround time and new and increased resource monitoring and allocation capabilities, providing optimum data center orchestration and virtualization.

Relion Servers are available in 1U, 2U, 4U, and High Density EIA rackmount as well as Tundra Extreme Scale (ES) OCP form factor.

Tundra Extreme Scale (ES) Series delivers the advantages of Open Computing in a single, cost-optimized, high-performance architecture. Organizations can integrate a wide variety of compute, accelerator, storage, network, software and cooling architectures in a vanity-free rack and sled solution. This allows them to build optimized Intel Xeon and Xeon Phi systems with the latest Penguin, and Intel high-speed network fabric technology for maximum performance.

Penguin Computing Offering Intel® Omni-Path Architecture

Penguin Computing is dedicated to offering the best performance per cost solutions to our customers. This is why we offer Intel® Omni-Path Architecture, an element of Intel® Scalable System Framework.

Penguin Computing recently won a contract, called CTS-1, with the National Labs to deliver petaFLOPS-scale computing with our Tundra Extreme Scale HPC solution. In the CTS-1 contract, they selected Intel® Omni-Path architecture for the fabric both for its performance and price.

Network fabric performance and reliability are critical for high-performance computing (HPC) clusters because so many machines have to work together in parallel. Intel® Omni-Path, with both low latency and high performance at 100 gigabits per second, is a valuable addition that accelerates and unleashes the performance of the CPU.

One of the innovations of Intel® Omni-Path switches is increasing the switch size from 36 to 48 ports. This allows us to build larger fabrics with fewer layers … and fewer layers means lower latency and fewer switches and, thus, lower cost.

Intel's dedication to open sourcing the software that manages the Omni-Path architecture has been a huge benefit in making this technology accessible. Open source technologies help democratize high-performance computing, making it available to more scientists and engineers for innovative and critical research.
